Plough service in St. Andrew's Church, Kirkby Malzeard is always a great event for us. Very difficult to organise this year as Ray had more chemotherapy treatment on the Thursday before so we were unsure as to whether he'd be fit to play. Just in case we got Rob to dance number 1 so that I could play if need be. In the event Ray was fine. I carried the lock in and out at the end.

We arrived at 9.30 for Rob to practice in my place and he was fine. The 2 officials at the service didn't know we were going to dance and never thought to ask why we were there. The order of services had been newly printed and we weren't in there either. When it came to our usual time the choir said “It's not the next hymn, it's the dancers”.

I sat near to Ray to make sure he was ok, he was, and Rob danced very well. Coffee after the service and we beheaded ?? who was a trainer of clergy. A few people expressed concern that we weren't getting any younger!

We then went to the Crown at Grewelthorpe for a meal as they had been good to us on Boxing Day. Sue the landlady had warned us that the kitchens weren't ready and that it would be a limited menu. It was the first day for the waitresses and unfortunately it all went wrong with some of us not getting served two hours after we arrived!

Masham Plough Service - a fairly standard event this year. One notable thing that Peter had a sore throat but still managed to sing with only one tiny wobble. Ray was off chemo so he was fine. Sausages were better quality this year but less of them. Dance went well, much applause.

White Bear after for a drink, the only other couple in the pub talking very loudly into a mobile phone on speaker between them for 10 minutes until their food arrived.

Our wedding! An absolutely brilliant day with all 8 of our teams performing at Kettlesing Village Hall. Sadly for Highside, Paul's back let him down the week before and couldn't perform. We had to draft Andy in at the very last moment which meant we had no time to practice. This meant a very short performance. Calling on song, clash, single under and lock. Then they beheaded me! Memorable.

Boxing Day, we met at the Queen's Head in Kirkby. Danced at the Cross then at the Ringbeck triangle (a picture of which was to become December in the 2016, Kirkby calendar) and on the Green. Lots of Clarks watching!

We then went to the Crown at Grewelthorpe and danced in the pub followed by a great music session. Beheaded Annika
