Plough Blessing at St Andrew's Church in Kirkby Malzeard. A bitterly cold day outside but not too bad inside the church. The congregation didn't seem as large as in previous years.
The service went as usual but with rather a right wing rant by the Ex Bishop of Lincoln in the sermon.
We danced as usual at the front of the Church, they must have taken another pew out because we has more room than normal. We danced very well, better than for a long time. The performance was videoed by Anita and is now on YouTube and linked to our website.
After the service we beheaded the Ex Bishop (in Church) but he didn't seem very interested.
After coffee and biscuits we went to the Staveley Arms in North Stainley for a carvery meal which was very pleasant. We would have rather stayed in Kirkby but the Henry Jenkins is closed and for sale and the Queen's only do Indian food and then only on an evening!

Plough Blessing at Masham Church. Quite a big congregation this year even though the weather was very wet and windy.
The service went as normal with an introduction for us that said we were unique. Had to explain that afterwards. Dance went well if a little slow in the very constrained area we had to dance in. There seemed to be cushions under the altar rail that stuck out and tripped us up! After the dance we beheaded the vicar nearly knocking his glasses off in the process.
Mulled wine and sausages afterwards. Then on to the White Bear for a pleasant social evening. Peter left his glasses in the church!

Bitterly cold boxing day with loads of snow on the ground. Usual meting at the Grantley Arms which was very busy considering the difficulties of travelling around. Not many people came out to watch though. My family came to watch, Jenny, Brian, Fin (5) and Owen (2).
We had to dance mostly in the road as there was snow in car park and on the pavement and patio. Keith was in at 3 as Rob was elsewhere. Dance went ok but the swords were very cold to hold. Afterwards we beheaded a very brave Fin who wasn't sure what was going on, he only cried a little bit! Cruel Grandad!
On to the Queen's at Kirkby Malzeard for a drink and then dance outside in the road, too much snow around the cross. Rob danced in for Paul who claimed a bad back. We beheaded Kirsten West (again). Then on to the Henry Jenkins which has a new landlord & lady this year. We danced in the dining room, the landlady filmed us and said she had uploaded it to Facebook. We beheaded Kirsten's friend.
We then moved to the top of the village and danced by the triangle on the Ringbeck road. Rob danced in again. We beheaded a young girl who claimed we had beheaded her the year before.
We then went to the Drovers at Dallowgill or a drink amd danced in the road before it got dark. We couldn't dance in the car park, too much snow. Keith had gone home so Rob danced back in 3. We beheaded Alison Gresham.
Afterwards we had soup and a roll. The beagles had been out during the day and were just returning. Sadly 2 of them had fallen down a well. One was saved and revived in front of the fire.
